Lamina Mounter

MRP Invests in Cutting-Edge Laminator Technology

As part of our ongoing commitment to enhancing our capabilities, we are thrilled to announce the installation of our new  Lamina Fasline Edge 1116 FLE Mounter/Laminator, which replaces our previous Fengchi High-Speed Laminator.

This advanced machine offers increased versatility, productivity with up to 8,000 sheets per hour, sheet-to-sheet mounting of paper to board and board to board, whether solid or corrugated and with full servo control, it ensures edge-to-edge registration accuracy of less than 1mm and automatic feeding. It can seamlessly mount two sheets of board of varying thicknesses or paper to board. It is also capable of mounting various substrates to both open and closed-faced corrugated board.

Equipped with an in-line ‘Flip Flop Stacker’ system, it automatically flips sheets to prevent curling without compromising speed—a task that was previously done manually, impacting output.

Stephen Bates Managing Director said “We believe this new addition will offer better options to our clients, reduce turnaround times, and open doors to new markets. With the growing demand for subscription boxes, our clients are increasingly seeking environmentally friendly alternatives to plastic packaging.”

All CAD design, printing, mounting, die-cutting, and gluing are carried out at our Nottingham facility. Additionally, we provide full self-adhesive label and ribbon printing, ensuring consistent colour quality across all printed products.

To stay ahead in technology, we have also recently invested in the state-of-the-art Sanwa 1060 S.C.B. Axia blacking and die-cutting press, along with two advanced packers for our gluing machines.

Midland Regional Printers is committed to exceptional quality and service, holding ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and FSC certifications. We are also carbon footprint certified, and for every order placed, we plant a tree to support sustainability. With a modern, fully integrated facility, we are equipped to stay versatile and meet the changing needs of our customers.

Gordon Ramsay Future Food Stars

BBC1 Future Food Stars by Gordon Ramsay

We are very proud to announce we have had the incredible honour of producing the labels for the BBC1 Future Food Stars by Gordon Ramsay!

Episode 5 (Season 2) which aired last night, saw the two teams set with task of creating a bottled sauce, which they must then present to Sauce Shop (who have the most incredible sauces) and Gordon Ramsay for judging. The two sauces designed were Flaming Pineapple Molasses and Ha’Pea Ketchup. Ha’Pea Ketchup (best described as mushy peas meets curry sauce) was crowned the winning sauce and will be available for a limited time to buy at Sauce Shop – please see https://www.sauceshop.co/…/sauce-shop-x-gordon-ramsay…

We cannot give out too many details, however it was a very exciting night! After receiving the information for the artwork mid-afternoon, we had a few hours to create the artwork, make the printing plates and produce these labels. These labels were printed on our state of the art inline hybrid Mark Andy Pro 3 press with flexo UV white and digital CMYK.

It makes you really appreciate the work that goes off behind the scenes, so the contestants can continue with their tasks once the brief has been set.

We would love to have this opportunity to work with Gordon Ramsay again in the future! Thank you to Sauce Shop for the honour and we loved working with you on this.

Good luck to the final contestants! You are all incredible!

We would also like to say a massive THANK YOU to Brownett Ltd for stopping their production and producing these plates so quickly for us, we couldn’t have done this without them!

Labels Awards Evening

FlexoTech International Labels Awards Winner

As you may know we entered one of our favourite range of labels into this year’s prestigious FlexoTech International Print & Innovation Awards – and guess what… we did it! We had been shortlisted in the ‘Best use of flexo within a single forme’ category and were delighted to be named the winner at a black-tie awards ceremony and dinner at the Hilton London Metropole on the 13th October.

It was a great honour to win this award for a range of labels we produced for food manufacturer, Pureety’s, Ultimate Marinade Glaze product. The labels were printed on our 7 colour press in 4 colour process and were then given an overall matt varnish, and finally a spot gloss UV, to give a really striking effect,’ said Stephen Tew

The FlexoTech judges agreed, describing the winning label range as ‘One of the best examples of the use of flexo in printing a complex set of designs from the four colour set, with registration and vibrancy being maintained throughout.’

Stephen Tew, Stephen Bates, Catherine Tew and Matt Seaford attended the event hosted by Whitmar Publications, this was a truly international evening, with around 450 people in attendance from leading labelling manufacturers around the globe. And whilst the companies themselves might not be household names, many of the nominated products certainly were, with ranges from top brands such as Asda, L’Oreal, Sharwood’s, Dettol and Coca-Cola all up for Flexo-Tech awards.

We are now looking forward to entering into next year’s awards – thank you to everyone for all your support.
