PRINTING THROUGHOUT OUR HISTORY, SINCE 1969

1969 is widely remembered as the year man first walked on the moon, Concorde took to the skies, and Abbey Road was released by The Beatles. It was also the year Stephen Tew and John Newbold founded Midland Regional Printers (MRP).

From modest beginnings, with just three employees operating from a 2,000 sq ft workshop on Lowdham Street in Nottingham, MRP initially served local businesses. Over the decades, the company has grown significantly – expanding, relocating, and continually evolving alongside the printing industry – before establishing its current home in Basford, Nottingham.

Today, MRP operates from a 50,000 sq ft facility and employs a team of 60 skilled professionals. Recognised among the top 500 printing companies in the UK, we deliver high-quality printed packaging and label solutions to both leading national brands and independent local businesses.

A key strength of MRP lies in our fully integrated, in-house production capabilities. From CAD design and artwork creation through to printing, die-cutting, gluing, finishing, and fulfilment, every stage is managed under one roof. This end-to-end approach ensures complete quality control, efficiency, and flexibility for our clients.

About us MRP

This commitment to service has been central to our long-standing success. We take the time to understand each client’s specific requirements, offering a tailored approach that can range from simply printing supplied designs to developing concepts and CAD prototypes from scratch. Our experienced team provides expert guidance on materials, colours, finishes, and environmentally responsible options – always focused on delivering the most effective solution.

We also pride ourselves on offering a highly collaborative and personal service. Clients are welcome to be involved at every stage of the process, from initial discussions through to production, with opportunities to visit our facility and see their projects come to life firsthand.

While maintaining our strong tradition of in-house manufacturing, MRP has also embraced innovation – particularly in sustainability. We are FSC® certified and a Carbon Balanced Printer in partnership with the World Land Trust. We plant a tree for every order received, provide carbon data with every quotation, and continuously monitor and reduce our environmental impact through annual carbon measurement and reporting.

Investments

Ongoing investment remains a cornerstone of our growth. In recent years, this has included two new B1 mounting presses, a Sanwa die cutter, a Heidelberg printing press, solar panel installation, voltage optimisation systems, and advanced gluing equipment. We have also implemented Tharstern, a fully integrated management information system that enhances workflow automation, operational control, and transparency across the business.

These investments reflect our commitment to delivering the highest standards of quality and service. As we look ahead, we are confident in a strong and progressive future, supported by cutting-edge technology, sustainable practices, and a dedicated team.

Despite the many challenges faced by the printing industry over the years, MRP has continued to adapt, innovate, and grow. From our beginnings in 1969 to the present day, our focus remains the same: to provide exceptional products, outstanding service, and forward-thinking solutions for our clients.
